This plot at monte Almendros (Salobreña) was exceptionally difficult due to the harsh topography and the ruins of a demolished on-site building. We carefully studied the setting of the new dwelling, taking advantage of the initial handicaps to minimize construction costs
We completed the void area in the lower section with a bold plinth claded in local stone, placing the garage and machinery room at this level. We maintained an existing terrace and filled it with vegetation to improve microclimatic conditions.
Both upper floors adapt smoothly for an optimum solar orientation, with ample living areas around the pool, making outstanding the beautiful rocky background and making the most of the extraordinary views of the Salobreña beach and meadows in the distance.
The ground floor is completely glazed and protected with wooden lattice, the white volumes of the bedrooms stand floating above. The result is an exciting, comfortable and low energy house, wisely melted in the hillside and built with cross laminated timber frame technology.
